Vilnius is on sale for Summer travel

Written by

For the first time in more than a decade, the euro is almost equal in value to the dollar, making Europe cheaper to Americans than it's been in a long time. The time to go to Europe is now!  Lithuania which joined the euro zone at the start of 2015 is the perfect destination to enjoy the ride of the dollar. Moreover, PriceofTravel.com found that Vilnius is one of the cheapest cities in Europe for budget-minded travelers.

In its daily 3-star Traveler Index, Vilnius came in at US$65.88/day

Here's what PriceofTravel.com had to say about Vilnius:

As with the other Baltic states (Estonia and Latvia), Lithuania is still quite cheap compared to its neighbors a bit to the west. Vilnius is out of the way unless you are going from Poland through to Estonia, but it’s also served by an increasing number of European budget airlines who bring people in for a cheap weekend break. There’s a lovely old city center here, and appealing prices once you arrive. And unlike Riga and Tallinn, this is not a cruise port city so the center is free of most of the cheesy things that passengers gravitate toward.

The figure for each city listed in PriceofTravel.com's 3-star Traveler Index is based on one night in the cheapest 3-star hotel available in a desirable, central location with good reviews (based on double occupancy, so the full nightly rate for two people is double what is listed) taxi rides, one cultural attraction, three meals per day, and three beers (or wine). Non-drinkers might have dessert and coffee or attend a local music performance instead.
